Heat, brush, repeat

My beautiful, natural bristle brushes are used to apply the molten encaustic (beeswax+pigment+damar resin) onto the artwork. The bristles are heated on the hot palette and you get just a few strokes worth of paint on before the wax cools down and hardens. Again, I must warm the brush bristles up on the hot palette, dip the brush into molten wax paint, apply a few paint strokes (very quickly), then repeat these steps. You must also fuse each fresh stroke of paint with a heat source, like a heat gun, so the paint binds with the layers below. Encaustic painting = lots of patience.
